On the way to school yesterday I was singing Makenna a silly version of "Happy Birthday." She laughed so I kept singing all the way into the school. As we got to her classroom she stopped and said, "mom maybe you shouldn't sing that in my classroom." I looked at her puzzled, not planning on singing anymore, and asked her "why?" "I think they will laugh at you" she said. I looked at her and said, "well sweetie that's the point, I'm trying to make it silly. You were laughing I thought you liked it." She just looked at me and said, "mom, I'm a 5 year old girl now." Apparently my little girl is growing up and no longer thinks I'm cool. I just figured I had a few more years left, but apparently 5 is the new 15.
I have loved watching her grow up and become this sweet, beautiful little girl. She is so aware of everyone's feelings and makes sure nobody is left out. She is a major tease to everyone and loves to laugh. She is so smart and has this desire to learn and grow. I cannot imagine life without her, and have had a wonderful five years with her. I cannot wait for many more wonderful years to come with our little girl.
